Jayson Stewart was born in Richmond Hill, Ontario, Canada in 1975 but moved with his family to Northern Ontario, Canada in 1980. Other than a few years in Toronto and one brief year in Alberta, he has lived in Northern Ontario since.
Stewart's first major role was as serial killer Isaac Lowen in THE BLACK FOREST and was next cast as as Inspector McEachern in THE PASTA KILLER! He played Wilfred Phelps in FEAR THE DARK and has done background work, working alongside Andy Garcia, Devon Bostick, Art Hindle, Kevin Durand, Deborah Unger, Kiowa Gordon, Miranda Cosgrove and Donel Logue. In 2016, he wrapped Season One of the VDO Entertainment/ Eastlink co-production 14 KEYS, a gritty crime drama in which he plays the main antagonist, Russian mafia boss Viktor Rominov. Stewart worked with director James Smith on the horror short CANNIBAL HOUSE: THE BEGINNING where he played Dog, a cursed gravedigger. He was also in charge of casting, locations, sets, and props for the film. When director Douglas A Ewen was casting for the indie feature THE WOODS THAT MADE ME, he saw Stewart's work and rewrote the Blind Man role for him. In 2019, Stewart focused more heavily on voice over work and was given the huge role of Archangel Michael in the hit dramedy MAGI AND THE QUEST FOR CHRISTMAS and character roles in the CONTINUUM FORCE serial podcast. His voice-over and voice-acting clients have included YAHOO CANADA!, NORTH BAY AND DISTRICT BIG BROTHERS ASSOCIATION, SPARTAN YOUTH RADIO, and THE LAUNCHPAD. He has also been contracted to do public speaking work for ESPANOLA HIGH SCHOOL, SAGAMOK ANISHINAWBEK, MASSEY MARATHON, MASSEY INTERFAITH COUNCIL, WALFORD HAUNTED WALK, VARIOUS WEDDINGS, PROJECT PRESERVATION and THE ECO HOME ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION CENTER. As a high school educator, former elementary school educator, former municipal politician, and spokesman for many causes, Stewart has been interviewed on local, regional, national and international media. Stewart is an award-winning secondary school teacher at Espanola High School in Espanola, Ontario, where he was the founder and producer of SPARTAN YOUTH RADIO, Canada's first high school podcast radio station. He produced interviews with author Margaret Atwood, comedian Rick Mercer, astronaut Chris Hadfield, politician Jack Layton and countless bands and musicians including Billy Talent, the Weakerthans, and Mother Mother. Stewart is a husband; father of five; a high school Art, English, Media, Social Justice, Drama, and Indigenous Studies teacher; former municipal politician; visual artist; environmentalist; and an LGBTQ+, environmental, and Indigenous issue activist.
